Browlift

Perhaps one of the most underestimated areas of the face, which has the most marked potential for rejuvenation, are the forehead and eyebrows. Horizontal forehead wrinkling, deep scowl lines, and drooping eyebrows are all part of the constellation of upper facial aging. Many patients present with the complaint that they always have a tired facial appearance or that they seem to have the appearance of chronic discontentment. It is their assumption that by rejuvenating their upper eyelids this appearance can be alleviated. During your consultation we may demonstrate to you that elevation of your eyebrows in conjunction with upper eyelid surgery may better help you achieve the look that you desire.

Browlift surgery can be performed using different surgical techniques and approaches depending upon several patient variables. The vast majority of browlifts are performed endoscopically in which small incisions are created behind the hairline. Specially designed endoscopic instrumentation is then introduced into these incisions and passed down the length of the forehead and temples beneath the skin. The eyebrows, soft tissue, and muscles of the forehead are then elevated and fixed to the desired position. Through these same incisions the deep wrinkles of the forehead and those between the eyebrows can also be smoothed to a significant degree.

In patients with receding or naturally high hairlines different incisions will need to be used to perform the procedure. These incisons may be placed within the wrinkles of the forehead, or a larger incision may need to be placed at the hairline or slightly behind the hairline to adequately elevate the brows and forehead.
