FaceliftPerhaps one of the most well known cosmetic procedures, yet also one of the most poorly understood is the facelift or rhytidectomy. Many factors contribute to the aging face.
Some are hereditary, some are environmental, and others are a combination of the two. These changes can make you appear tired and aged, even if you still feel young. The surgical goals and expectations of a facelift operation should be carefully outlined to the patient prior to undergoing the procedure. Patients often present unsure of just what type of procedure they will require in order to rejuvenate their face. Some patients may have poor skin quality and require chemical peels, laser surgery, or simply microdermabrasion to refresh the skin. Other patients have sagging facial features and excess skin which requires a lifting procedure, and many patients require a combination of the two. In analyzing the face, not only should the quality and quantity of the skin be considered, but also the region of the face where these problems exist.
